“Mobile apps, sensors, and other technologies help cities handle growing challenges.  

… in the western textile city of Surat, population five million, relatively inexpensive technology is making the greatest difference. A flood warning system uses temperature, rainfall, wind speed, and other data captured by new automated weather stations, combined with information from river gauges, satellites, and other sources, to create models of the nearby Tapti River and Ukai reservoir. It cost less than $500,000 to set up, plus some land donated by the city, but the system was able to warn citizens two days before floods struck during the 2013 rainy season….. A second project, connecting health workers around the region to centralized data via the Internet and SMS, has helped the health department predict outbreaks of malaria, viral hepatitis, dengue fever, and leptospirosis and take action to prevent their spread….”

“More “Brains”: bright foreign born students with American Education and Smart Entrepreneurs joining the American economy (rather than leaving for his / her emerging country). We surely don’t want foreign born students to leave our country once they are done with their Engineering or PhD degrees. 

As is evident from FWD.US, high tech companies enthusiastically support the immigration reform. They want to turn more of smart foreign Engineers into American Engineers.Statistics reflect the motivation that is driving the high tech companies.  

In 2010, Asian Americans became the majority of tech workforce in the valley for the first time, making up 50.1 percent [1].One third of the startups in Silicon Valley are founded by Indian Americans [1].Moreover, immigrants bring new views, new perspectives from which to look at things we got used to. “

And anything that aids us in “Controlling Consciousness” (for example, Meditation, Mindfulness, Yoga, deep breathing, etc.) is good and highly recommended.]

      Pitch For : Palestine As An Independent Nation

      Israel is a “Jewish” nation.
       
      And as we have seen over the decades, Palestinian Muslims haven’t been treated as equals by the Government of Israel.

      Rather, we have wearily seen conflicts among – Israelis and Palestinians – at frequent intervals.

       

      We believe that the only way of peace is coexistence of two separate states – Israel and Palestine. 

      But we would like to see two states – very much interconnected – in terms of Economy, Business,  Culture and Religions (religions with same roots, Monotheistic traditions and above all, shared Holy space).

                        "নাগরিক শক্তি"র ঐতিহাসিক পটভূমি

                         

                        নাগরিক শক্তির ঐতিহাসিক পটভূমির গল্প বলছি আজকে।

                        ১.

                        নাগরিক শক্তি কিন্তু আমাদের দেশের নাগরিক সমাজের অনেক বছরের ভিশনের বাস্তবায়ন।

                        নাগরিক শক্তির ঘোষণা কবে আসতে পারতো – বলতে পারেন? Any Guess?

                        ২০১৩?
                        হল না।

                        নাগরিক শক্তির ঘোষণা আসতে পারতো ২০০৭ এ।
                        আসেনি।

                        আত্নপ্রকাশ তখন ঘটলে নেতৃত্ব অন্যরকম হত।

                        আমি নেতৃত্বে যোগ দিতাম আরেকটু “বড়” হয়ে!


                        ২.

                        নাগরিক শক্তির ঘোষণা আসতে পারতো এরপর – ২০১২ সালের জানুয়ারি / ফেব্রুয়ারির দিকে  [1]।
                        সেবারও আসেনি।
                        ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়েছিল, “আজকে (২০১২) যাদের বয়স ২৫ বছর – তারাই ১০ বছর পর বাংলাদেশকে নেতৃত্ব দেবে।”




                        ৩.

                        এরপর ব্যরিস্টার রফিক-উল হককে আহ্বায়ক এবং মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্নাকে সদস্য সচিব করে গণতন্ত্র ও মানবাধিকার রক্ষায় এবং রাজনীতিতে গুণগত পরিবর্তন আনার লক্ষ্যে নাগরিক সংগঠন সিডিএইচআর (সিটিজেনস ফর ডেমোক্র্যাসি এ্যান্ড হিউম্যান রাইটস) আত্মপ্রকাশ করে [2]। 

                        তৃতীয় রাজনৈতিক শক্তি হওয়ার লক্ষ্য [2] নিয়ে গঠিত হয় নাগরিক ঐক্য [3]। 




                        নাগরিক শক্তি নাগরিক সমাজের সেই ভিশনের পূর্ণাঙ্গ রাজনৈতিক রূপ। 




                        ৪.

                        “নাগরিক শক্তি” নামটা নাগরিক সমাজ থেকে প্রস্তাবিত।

                        আর

                        প্রতীক : বই 
                        মূলমন্ত্র : জ্ঞানের আলোয় উন্নত বাংলাদেশ

                        – এই দুটো আমার!

                         

                        ৫.

                        পটভূমি এটুকুই।

                        Economic Ideology for Political Party in Bangladesh  

                        1. “Free Market Economy”
                        2. The need for selected Government intervention

                        1. “Free Market Economy”

                        নাগরিক শক্তি “Free Market Economy” – Proponent (মুক্তবাজার অর্থনীতির প্রবক্তা)।
                        নাগরিক শক্তি বিশ্বাস করে, Market এ বিভিন্ন Firms এবং Individuals (Example: Labor Market) এর Competition এর মাধ্যমেই সামগ্রিক অর্থনৈতিক উন্নতি ও প্রগতি ত্বরান্বিত হয়।

                         

                        “Free Market Economy” Proponent হিসেবে নাগরিক শক্তি ক্ষমতায় গিয়ে – সব সরকারি ব্যাংক, বাংলাদেশ বিমান সহ বিভিন্ন সরকারি লাভজনক প্রতিষ্ঠানকে – পর্যায়ক্রমে বেসরকারিকরণ (Privatization) করবে। 

                        • Privatization প্রক্রিয়ায় লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে – যাতে Monopoly তৈরি হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা না থাকে। Bangladesh Biman কে প্রাইভেটাইজেশান করা যায় – কারণ বাংলাদেশে অন্যান্য প্রাইভেট এয়ারলাইন রয়েছে – যাদের সাথে Market এর জন্য প্রতিযোগিতা করবে। কিন্তু Bangladesh Railways কে Privatize করলে Monopoly তৈরি হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকবে – রেলের টিকেটের ভাড়া ইচ্ছেমত নির্ধারণ করতে পারবে।   

                         

                        2. The need for selected Government intervention

                        অর্থনীতির এমন কিছু ক্ষেত্র রয়েছে – যেসব Market (বাজার) সমাধান করতে উৎসাহিত হয় না।

                        যেমন Market (অর্থাৎ বিভিন্ন Firms) দারিদ্র্য দূরীকরণ, Inequality (অসাম্য) দূরীকরণ এবং সামাজিক নানা সমস্যা (যেমন – দেশের শিশু মৃত্যু হার কমানো) সমাধানে সবসময় কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ রাখে না।

                        Firms গুলোর মূল লক্ষ্য থাকে Profit Maximization. এ কারণে, Profit নেই এমন খাতগুলোতে Market বিনিয়োগ করে না।

                        নাগরিক শক্তির অর্থনৈতিক দর্শন: Market যেসব সমস্যা সমাধানে উৎসাহী নয় – Government (সরকার) সেই সব ক্ষেত্র চিহ্নিত (identify) করে – পরিচালনার উদ্যোগ নেবে।

                        Market এর বাইরের যেসব ক্ষেত্র Government পরিচালনা করবে সেসব ক্ষেত্রে নাগরিক শক্তি Win-win বা Positive-sum game ব্যবস্থা (System) চালু করবে। অর্থাৎ এমন Mechanism Design (See: Game Theory) করবে – যেখানে সবগুলো পক্ষ সর্বোচ্চ লাভবান হবে।
                         

                        3. Empowerment of People  #EmpowermentOfPeople

                        নাগরিক শক্তি বিশ্বাস করে, প্রত্যেকটা মানুষের মাঝে রয়েছে Enormous potential – প্রত্যেকটি মানুষ এক একটি বিশাল সম্ভাবনা।
                        এভাবে ১৬ কোটি মানুষের অন্তর্নিহিত শক্তিকে জাগিয়ে তুলতে পারলে – বাংলাদেশের পক্ষে দ্রুত উন্নতির শিখরে আরোহণ করা সম্ভব।
                        অন্তর্নিহিত শক্তিকে জাগিয়ে তোলার অংশ হিসেবে – নাগরিক শক্তি জনগণের Empowerment (ক্ষমতায়ন) নিশ্চিত করবে।
                        সরকার পরিচালনায়, অর্থনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড পরিচালনায় নাগরিক শক্তি‘র লক্ষ্য হবে – ১৬ কোটি মানুষের সেই বিপুল শক্তিকে জাগিয়ে তোলা এবং এর মাধ্যমে দেশের উন্নতি নিশ্চিত করা।
                        • জনগণের অন্তর্নিহিত শক্তিকে জাগিয়ে তোলা (Empowerment of people) র অংশ হিসেবে নাগরিক শক্তি শিক্ষাখাত (Education Sector) কে সর্বোচ্চ গুরুত্ব দেবে। [See: নাগরিক শক্তির শিক্ষা উন্নয়ন পরিকল্পনার রূপরেখা (TahsinVersion2)] স্বাস্থ্যসুবিধা (Healthcare Facilities) নিশ্চিত করবে এবং ব্যবসা-শিল্প-বিনিয়োগ-উদ্যোক্তা বান্ধব (Entrepreneurship Development) পরিবেশ গড়ে তুলবে। জনসাধারণের বিকাশের লক্ষ্যে বিভিন্ন প্ল্যাটফর্ম গড়ে তুলবে। 

                        একদিকে শিল্পের বিকাশ এবং অন্যদিকে জনকল্যাণমুখী অর্থনীতি চালু করে নাগরিক শক্তি বাংলাদেশকে বিশ্বের দরবারে একটি অর্থনৈতিক শক্তি হিসেবে গড়ে তুলবে।

                        The Fallacies Of Socialism & Communism

                        সমাজতান্ত্রিকরা মনে করেন, পুঁজিবাদের বিকাশ ঘটলে পুঁজিবাদীরা শ্রমিক শ্রেণী থেকে লুট করে ধনী হন।
                        কিন্তু আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, এমন পদ্ধতি চালু করা সম্ভব যেখানে সব পক্ষ সর্বোচ্চ লাভবান হবে, সব পক্ষই জিতবে (Win-win; Positive Sum Game)।
                        পুঁজিবাদের বিকাশ ঘটলে মানুষের কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি হয়। শিল্পের মালিকরা শ্রমিকদের স্বাস্থ্য ভাল রাখতে ব্যবস্থা নিলে, কারখানার পরিবেশ উন্নত করলে অধিকতর উৎপাদনশীলতা থেকে মালিকরা লাভবান হন।
                        অন্যদিকে, শ্রমিকদের আর্থিক অবস্থার উন্নতি ঘটলে তারা শিল্প পণ্য আরও বেশি কেনেন। এভাবে শিল্পের বিকাশ ত্বরান্বিত হয়।

                        Karl Marx (কার্ল মার্ক্স ১৮১৮ – ১৮৮৩) ছিলেন 19th Century র। Karl Marx যখন সমাজতন্ত্র প্রবর্তন করেছিলেন – তখনও প্রযুক্তি এবং মেশিন সমৃদ্ধ শিল্পের বিকাশ ঘটেনি। বিকাশ ঘটেনি আধুনিক Management র। কার্ল মার্ক্সের সময় শ্রমিকদের পক্ষে Production (উৎপাদন) সম্পূর্ণভাবে পরিচালনা করা সম্ভব ছিল। Marx প্রভাবিত হয়েছিলেন – মূলত শ্রমিকদের জীবন এবং অসহায়ত্ব পর্যবেক্ষণ করে। তার লক্ষ্য ছিল শ্রমিকদের প্রাপ্য অধিকার নিশ্চিত করা।

                        কিন্তু 20th Century তে Thomas Alva Edison, Nikola Tesla র Electric Power, Ford র Mass Production Factory (গাড়ি উৎপাদনের জন্য) বিকাশের মাধ্যমে শিল্প কারখানায় Technology, Automation, Machinery এবং Management এর ব্যবহার প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। 

                        আমরা যে BBA, MBA পড়ি – Management এর Need (প্রয়োজনীয়তা) সৃষ্টি এবং বিকাশ কিন্তু 20th Century র phenomenon –  Mass Production Industry – establishment এর মাধ্যমে – যখন বড় শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানের সমস্ত Production পরিচালনার জন্য Manager র দরকার পড়ে।

                        ফলে 20th Century তে “শুধুমাত্র শ্রমিক”দের পক্ষে Production (উৎপাদন) আর সম্ভব নয় – যা সম্ভব ছিল Marx এর সময়ে।

                        পুরো Production পরিচালনা করতে শ্রমিকদের Engineering এবং Management শিখতে হবে – যা Marx এর সময় প্রয়োজন ছিল না! 

                        Economics এ Production এর Input এর মাঝে Capital এবং Technology ক্রমেই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠছে – 19th Century তে প্রাধান্য ছিল Land এবং Labor এর।

                        পরীক্ষায় সাফল্যে যেমন প্রতিযোগিতা ভূমিকা রাখে (“First হতে হবে” বা “Math Olympiad Team এ জায়গা করে নিতে হবে!”) – অর্থনীতির বিকাশেও Firms গুলোর মাঝে Competition (প্রতিযোগিতা) ভূমিকা রাখে (“ERP Software Sector এ আমাদের Dominate করতে হবে!”)। Socialist Economy গুলোতে Competition নেই বলে ভালো কাজের, নিজেকে আরও উপরে নিয়ে যাওয়ার অনুপ্রেরণাও নেই।

                        সরকারের দায়িত্ব হল – Competition এর মাধ্যমে যাতে “সামগ্রিক অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন” (Economy as a whole) ত্বরান্বিত হয় – সেই লক্ষ্যে Platform গড়ে দেওয়া।

                        Firms গুলো শুধু নিজেদের “Profit Maximize” করে, কিন্তু Government কে “Economy as a whole” ঠিকপথে এগুচ্ছে কিনা দেখতে হয়।

                        যেমন – Entrepreneurship Development (One way to Empower people) এর জন্য

                        Electricity and Gas Supply,

                        Infrastructure Development,

                        Ease of Starting Business এর জন্য বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ (যেমন – Administrative Complexity কমিয়ে আনা),

                        Banking Sector, Venture Capital এবং অন্যান্য Financial System এর মাধ্যমে Finance নিশ্চিত করা।

                        Centrally Planned Economy (Russia, China, North Korea) গুলোতে আমরা দেখছি – Communist Party গুলো নিজেদের ক্ষমতা ধরে রাখতে Free Speech র অধিকার থেকে জনগণকে বঞ্চিত করে। Social Media র উপর Censorship আরোপ করে এবং শুধুমাত্র “State-owned” Media গুলোকে approve করে। Media ব্যবহার করে Government র Propaganda চালানোর কাজে।

                        পাশাপাশি, পুরো ক্ষমতা সরকারের কাছে থাকায় – এসব দেশে Corruption ও বেশি। এসব দেশে Mixed Economy প্রচলিত – যেখানে Controlled development of Market ঘটেছে এবং Government, Ruling Communist Party ও Government এর অনুগতদের বিভিন্ন সুযোগ (Corruption) দেওয়া হয়।

                        Karl Marx কি এই লক্ষ্যে Socialism প্রবর্তন করেছিলেন – নাকি শ্রমিকদের বঞ্চনা এবং বঞ্চনামুক্তি – তার Economic Philosophy র ভিত্তি ছিল?

                        আমাদের দেশের সমস্যা হল, দুষ্ট রাজনীতির কারণে আইন শৃঙ্খলার উরধে উঠে দুর্নীতি সন্ত্রাসে নিমজ্জিত একদল লুটেরা শ্রেণীর উদ্ভব ঘটেছে।

                        নাগরিক শক্তি জনগণকে নিয়ে এই অপরাধী শ্রেণীর হাত থেকে জনগণকে রক্ষা করবে এবং জনগণের ক্ষমতা অধিষ্ঠিত করবে।

                        বিকল্প ধারার মহাসচিব মেজর (অব) আবদুল মান্নান

                        “দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করতে জাতীয় ঐক্যের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন নাগরিক ঐক্যের আহ্বায়ক মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না। গতকাল কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে নাগরিক ঐক্য আয়োজিত দুর্নীতিবিরোধী অবস্থান কর্মসূচিতে তিনি এ আহ্বান জানান। কর্মসূচিতে সংহতি প্রকাশ করেন ডাকসুর সাবেক ভিপি সুলতান মোহাম্মদ মনসুর আহমেদ, কলামিস্ট সৈয়দ আবুল মকসুদ, গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ডা. জাফর উল্লাহ চৌধুরী, সুপ্রিমকোর্টের আইনজীবী ড. শাহদীন মালিক, অধ্যাপক আসিফ নজরুল, স্থপতি মোবাশ্বের হোসেন, সিপিবির কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সদস্য রুহিন হোসেন প্রিন্স, বিকল্পধারার মহাসচিব মেজর (অব.) এম এ মান্নানসহ বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক সংগঠনের নেতা-কর্মীরা। দুর্নীতিবিরোধী এ অবস্থান কর্মসূচি সমাবেশে রূপ নেয়। 

                        মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না বলেন, রাজনীতিকে যারা কলুষিত করেন তারাও দুর্নীতিবাজ।ডা. জাফর উল্লাহ চৌধুরী বলেন, দেশে গণতন্ত্রের নামে ভাঁওতাবাজি করা হয়। এখানে গণতন্ত্রের জন্য নির্বাচন হয় না। সৈয়দ আবুল মকসুদ বলেন, স্বাধীনতার পর থেকেই দুর্নীতির মহরত শুরু হয়েছে। আমাদের সব উন্নয়ন দুর্নীতির কারণে বাধাগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে। সুলতান মোহাম্মদ মনসুর আহমেদ বলেন, এমন কোনো জায়গা নেই যেখানে টাকা ছাড়া কাজ হয়। যে স্বপ্ন নিয়ে মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা দেশ স্বাধীন করেছিলেন তা নষ্ট হয়ে গেছে। স্বাধীনতার পর যাদের কাছে সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রত্যাশা ছিল জনগণ তাদের কাছেই বেশি আঘাত পেয়েছে। ড. শাহদীন মালিক বলেন, ‘এই দেশে পানি পেতেও ঘুষ দিতে হয়। সব প্রতিষ্ঠান এখন দুর্নীতির কেন্দ্রে পরিণত হয়েছে।’ অধ্যাপক আসিফ নজরুল বলেন, সমাজের রন্ধ্রে রন্ধ্রে দুর্নীতি প্রবেশ করেছে। সার্টিফিকেটে দুর্নীতি, প্রশ্নপত্রে দুর্নীতি, নির্বাচনী দুর্নীতি নতুন মাত্রা যোগ করেছে।

                        অন্যান্যের মধ্যে বক্তব্য দেন জেএসডি সাধারণ সম্পাদক আবদুল মালেক রতন, গণফোরামের প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য এডভোকেট সুব্রত চৌধুরী, বিকল্পধারার কোষাধ্যক্ষ আলী জাফর প্রমুখ। কর্মসূচিতে কিশোরগঞ্জ, সাভার, নারায়ণগঞ্জ ও ঢাকার বিভিন্ন থানা থেকে নাগরিক ঐক্যের নেতাকর্মীরা অংশ নেন। এছাড়া বাংলাদেশ স্টুডেন্ট ওয়েলফেয়ার, দুর্নীতি প্রতিরোধ আন্দোলন, দেশপ্রেমিক নাগরিক পার্টিসহ বিভিন্ন শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন ও পেশাজীবী সংগঠনের নেতাকর্মীরা মিছিল নিয়ে যোগ দেন।”






                         

                        “পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম জনসংহতি সমিতি আয়োজিত সংবাদ সম্মেলনে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ঐক্য ন্যাপের সভাপতি পঙ্কজ ভট্টাচার্য, জনসংহতি সমিতির সহসভাপতি ও সংসদ সদস্য ঊষাতন তালুকদার, কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা দীপায়ন খিসা এবং রাজশাহীর আদিবাসী নেতা রবীন্দ্রনাথ সরেন। উপস্থিত ঐক্য ন্যাপের সভাপতি এবং রাজশাহী আদিবাসী নেতা রবীন্দ্রনাথসহ অন্যরা অসহযোগ আন্দোলনে সমর্থন জানান।” 




                        “‘ডেফোডিল ইন্টারনেশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি’র স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাসে অনুষ্ঠিত ১৭তম কম্পিউটার ও তথ্য প্রযুক্তি বিষয়ক আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলনে চিফ পেট্রন হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়েটির ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান নাগরিক ঐক্যের যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক মো. সবুর খান।”

                         

                         

                         
                        “একাত্তরের ঘাতক-দালাল নির্মূল কমিটির কেন্দ্রীয় ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি, লেখক ও সাংবাদিক শাহরিয়ার কবিরের সভাপতিত্বে ২৬ নভেম্বর জেনেভার স্থানীয় এক রেস্টুরেন্টে এক সভায় এ কমিটি গঠনের ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়।”

                         

                         
                         
                         
                         
                         

                        “বিএনপি দেউলিয়া হয়ে গেছে, তাদের এখন রাজনৈতিক কর্মসূচি’ নেই মন্তব্য করে ওয়ার্কার্স পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও সংসদ সদস্য ফজলে হোসেন বাদশা. 

                        পার্টির সভাপতি রাশেদ খান মেননের সভাপতিত্বে সমাবেশে বক্তব্য রাখেন, সাধারণ সস্পাদক ফজলে হোসেন বাদশা, সংসদ সদস্য হাজেরা সুলতানা, মুস্তফা লুৎফুল্লাহ, দলের পলিটব্যুরো সদস্য বিমল বিশ্বাস, কামরুল আহসান, মনোজ সাহা, হাফিজুর রহমান ভুঁইয়া, আমিনুল ইসলাম গোলাপ, সুশান্ত দাস, শফিউদ্দিন আহমেদ, ইকবাল কবির জাহিদ, নুরুল আহমদ বকুল প্রমুখ। “

                        “বাংলাদেশকে বাণিজ্য সহায়ক কর ও শুল্কব্যবস্থা প্রবর্তন করতে হবে। বর্তমান ব্যবস্থার আমূল সংস্কার করতে হবে। তাহলে বিদেশি কোম্পানি, বিশেষ করে সুইডেনের কোম্পানিগুলো এ দেশে বিনিয়োগে উৎসাহী হবে। বর্তমানে উচ্চ কর হার এবং জটিল ও দীর্ঘসূত্রতার শুল্কায়ন প্রক্রিয়ার করণে কাঙ্ক্ষিত বিদেশি বিনিয়োগ আকৃষ্ট করতে পারছে না বাংলাদেশ।”

                         

                        “আমরা সাশ্রয়ী গ্যাসভিত্তিক সার কারখানা স্থাপনের বিষয়ে বলেছি। আমরা কাফকোয় নিরবচ্ছিন্ন গ্যাস সরবরাহ পেতে সহযোগিতা কামনা করেছি।” 

                        তরুণ প্রজন্ম

                         

                        বাংলাদেশের বিজ্ঞান আন্দোলনের দুই ব্যক্তিত্ব ড. আ মু জহুরুল হক ও ড. আবদুল্লাহ আল মুতী শরফুদ্দিন স্মরণে স্মারক বক্তৃতামালার আয়োজন করে বাংলাদেশ বিজ্ঞান জনপ্রিয়করণ সমিতি। 
                        অনুষ্ঠানে নর্থ সাউথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তড়িৎ ও কম্পিউটার কৌশল বিভাগের সহকারি অধ্যাপক ড. নোভা আহমেদ তার বক্তৃতায় শিশু কিশোরদের জন্য প্রোগ্রামিং-এর জগৎ তুলে ধরেন।
                        এ সময় তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে সম্পূর্ণ বাংলাভাষায় একটি প্রোগ্রামিং স্ক্রিপ্টিং ভাষা চালু করেছেন বলে জানান। “চা স্ক্রিপ্ট” নামের এই প্রোগ্রামিং ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজে সাধারণ বাংলা ভাষায় প্রোগ্রামিং-এ নির্দেশনা ও প্রোগ্রাম লেখা যায়।
                        নোভা আহমেদ বলেন, আগামী দিনগুলোতে বিশ্বব্যাপী সৃজনশীল কাজের পরিমাণ বহুগুন বেড়ে যাবে।


                        বক্তৃতামালার অপর বক্তা ছিলেন বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্যাথলজি বিভাগের রেসিডেন্ট ডা. সৌমিত্র চক্রবর্তী। ডা. চক্রবর্তী তার “জেনেটিক্সের ওপারে” শীর্ষক বক্তৃতায় এপিজেনেটিক্সের সাম্প্রতিক প্রবণতা এবং বৈশিষ্ট্য সমূহ তুলে ধরেন এবং দেশে এ বিষয় নিয়ে গবেষণার বিভিন্ন দিক সম্পর্কেও জানান। প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বে ডা. চক্রবর্তী জানান পরীক্ষাগারের অংশ ছাড়াও এই গবেষণার তাত্ত্বিক ও প্রায়োগিক অংশ রয়েছে যা তারা বাংলাদেশেই করছেন। 


                        বক্তৃতামালার শুরুতে বিজ্ঞান ব্যক্তিত্ব জহুরুল হক ও আবদুল্লাহ আল-মুতীর জীবন ও কর্ম নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন আহসানিয়া ইনস্টিটিউট অব টেকনোলজির পরিচালক সৈয়দ জিয়াউল হক। সভাপতির বক্তব্য দেন অধ্যাপক এ আর খান। 


                        ৫ম বারের মত আযোজিত এই বার্ষিক বক্তৃতামালা অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন বাংলাদেশ বিজ্ঞান জনপ্রিয়করণ সমিতি সহ-সভাপতি মুনির হাসান।”

                        “এন প্লাস২ নামে সুপারসনিক যাত্রীবাহী এ প্লেনের নকশা করেছে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মহাকাশ গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠান লকহেড মার্টিন।

                        প্রতিষ্ঠানটির দাবি, প্রচলিত যাত্রীবাহী প্লেনের তুলনায় এটি দ্বিগুণ গতিতে চলবে। এর গতিবেগ হবে ঘণ্টায় এক হাজার দুইশ’ মাইল।”

                        “প্রস্তাব বাস্তবায়িত হলে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওয়াশিংটন অঙ্গরাজ্যের রেডমন্ডে ৫০০ একরজুড়ে বিস্তৃত ওই এলাকায় জ্বালানি সাশ্রয়ের পাশাপাশি প্রতিষ্ঠানের সার্বিক খরচ কমে আসবে। 

                        স্মিথ বলেন, স্মার্ট ভবনগুলো হবে একেকটি স্মার্ট শহরের মতো। আর স্মার্ট শহরগুলো বদলে দেবে সবকিছু।”

                        একাত্তরে মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের বিচার

                        “শাখাওয়াত হোসেন ১৯৯১ সালে জামায়াতে ইসলামীর পক্ষে জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে অংশ নিয়ে যশোর-৬ (কেশবপুর) আসন থেকে সাংসদ নির্বাচিত হন।
                        একাত্তরে দখলদার পাকবাহিনীর দোসর রাজাকার বাহিনীর কমান্ডার হিসেবে তিনি এলাকায় দায়িত্ব পালন করেন বলে অভিযোগ রয়েছে। ২০০৯ সালে যশোরে শাখাওয়াতের বিরুদ্ধে একাত্তরে যুদ্ধাপরাধের অভিযোগে চারটি মামলা হয়। ওই বছর জুন মাসে তাঁকে কেশবপুর থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। পরে তিনি জামিনে ছাড়া পান।”

                        নাগরিক ঐক্যের আলোচনা সভা – সমাবেশ – উদ্যোগ [28.11.14]






                        “দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করতে জাতীয় ঐক্যের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন নাগরিক ঐক্যের আহ্বায়ক মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না। গতকাল কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে নাগরিক ঐক্য আয়োজিত দুর্নীতিবিরোধী অবস্থান কর্মসূচিতে তিনি এ আহ্বান জানান। কর্মসূচিতে সংহতি প্রকাশ করেন ডাকসুর সাবেক ভিপি সুলতান মোহাম্মদ মনসুর আহমেদ, কলামিস্ট সৈয়দ আবুল মকসুদ, গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ডা. জাফর উল্লাহ চৌধুরী, সুপ্রিমকোর্টের আইনজীবী ড. শাহদীন মালিক, অধ্যাপক আসিফ নজরুল, স্থপতি মোবাশ্বের হোসেন, সিপিবির কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সদস্য রুহিন হোসেন প্রিন্স, বিকল্পধারার মহাসচিব মেজর (অব.) এম এ মান্নানসহ বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক সংগঠনের নেতা-কর্মীরা। দুর্নীতিবিরোধী এ অবস্থান কর্মসূচি সমাবেশে রূপ নেয়।  


                        মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না বলেন, রাজনীতিকে যারা কলুষিত করেন তারাও দুর্নীতিবাজ।ডা. জাফর উল্লাহ চৌধুরী বলেন, দেশে গণতন্ত্রের নামে ভাঁওতাবাজি করা হয়। এখানে গণতন্ত্রের জন্য নির্বাচন হয় না। সৈয়দ আবুল মকসুদ বলেন, স্বাধীনতার পর থেকেই দুর্নীতির মহরত শুরু হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের এক ইঞ্চি মাটি খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না যেখানে দুর্নীতি হয় না। আমাদের সব উন্নয়ন দুর্নীতির কারণে বাধাগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে। সুলতান মোহাম্মদ মনসুর আহমেদ বলেন, এমন কোনো জায়গা নেই যেখানে টাকা ছাড়া কাজ হয়। যে স্বপ্ন নিয়ে মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা দেশ স্বাধীন করেছিলেন তা নষ্ট হয়ে গেছে। স্বাধীনতার পর যাদের কাছে সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রত্যাশা ছিল জনগণ তাদের কাছেই বেশি আঘাত পেয়েছে। ড. শাহদীন মালিক বলেন, ‘এই দেশে পানি পেতেও ঘুষ দিতে হয়। আমরা বাংলাদেশকে কোথায় নিয়ে যাচ্ছি? সব প্রতিষ্ঠান এখন দুর্নীতির কেন্দ্রে পরিণত হয়েছে। আমাদের সবই আছে কাগজে কলমে।’অধ্যাপক আসিফ নজরুল বলেন, সমাজের রন্ধ্রে রন্ধ্রে দুর্নীতি প্রবেশ করেছে। সার্টিফিকেটে দুর্নীতি, প্রশ্নপত্রে দুর্নীতি, নির্বাচনী দুর্নীতি নতুন মাত্রা যোগ করেছে। দুদক এখন দুর্নীতি প্রসারে কাজ করছে। একদল ক্ষমতায় এলে অন্য দলের দুর্নীতির বিচার শুরু করে।”









                        “গণসংহতি আন্দোলনের এক যুগ পূর্তি উপলক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত সমাবেশে সংগঠনের প্রধান সমন্বয়ক জোনায়েদ সাকি বলেন, দেশ আজ এক কঠিন সংকটময় মুহূর্ত পার করছে। এ সংকটের সমাধান দিতে পারে একমাত্র গণতান্ত্রিক সংবিধান। যে সংবিধানে প্রধানমন্ত্রী থেকে শুরু করে রাষ্ট্রের প্রতিটি দায়িত্বশীল ব্যক্তি জনগণের কাছে জবাবদিহি করতে বাধ্য থাকবে। ভোটারবিহীন একটি নির্বাচনের মধ্য দিয়ে ক্ষমতায় এসে আওয়ামী লীগ আজ সর্বত্র দুর্নীতি, লুণ্ঠন আর অপশাসনের রাজত্ব কায়েম করেছে। 
                        অন্যদিকে বিএনপির একমাত্র চেষ্টা আওয়ামী লীগকে সরিয়ে ক্ষমতা দখল করা এবং পুনরায় লুণ্ঠনের একচেটিয়া রাজত্ব কায়েম করা।”
